Initially inspired from the Sunday Afternoon Cycling Church, we aim to get hundreds of thousands of New Zealander using cycle trailers to do their shopping and load carrying, rather than taking their car. This will bring economic and health benefits to individuals and our environment as a result.
To achieve this we try to make low cost, locally crafted trailers that are well set up for general load carrying. There will be a number of production centres around the country to avoid transportation fees and provide local service.
“Cheating Camel” is an anagram of “climate change” and seemed an appropriate name for a load carrying, environmentally friendly device such as this family of cycle trailers

cycletrailers.co.nz grew out of cyclingchurch.org.nz and the feeling that we need to care for this planet a little better than we are doing. One way of doing this is to reduce the number of car journeys made, particularly those that require a load to be carried. Providing low cost trailers that are well set up for shopping trips and general load carrying (as opposed to the more expensive trailers that are good for kids or touring) seems a great way of achieving this goal.
